Gothic Chronicle is an independent fan website about the original Gothic and its place in role-playing game history. The articles are retrospective summaries and design commentary, not interviews or first-hand accounts of development.

Scope & editorial approach

The chronology focuses on the studio’s foundation, Gothic’s original 2001 release and the early sequels. Release dates differ by territory; years here refer to the initial releases unless otherwise stated. Observations about atmosphere, progression and world design are editorial interpretation.

This site does not reproduce developer quotations or claim access to unpublished production material. The landscape artwork is an original illustration, not a screenshot or an image from the game.
